Autumn Term 2024: Clifton Joins Street Tag Competition

We’ve joined Street Tag – a family friendly app to help us all get out and about.
The app turns the parks and streets of Worcestershire into a virtual playground, with tag points up for grabs as children, families and staff explore their local area.
Street Tag rewards schools, families and individuals for keeping active - making physical activity fun by converting walking, running, and cycling into Street Tag points (tags).
Children, families and staff will be competing as part of the Clifton-upon-Teme Primary School team! We'll be competing against all the other schools in the Malvern Hills district and we are keen to do well!
Points are earned by actively walking, running or cycling to and from places, in addition to collecting virtual tags that have been scattered throughout the community. Tags can be found on school routes, in local parks, at local events. The competition season has just started so download the app and get started as soon as possible!
Street Tag is a great way to motivate families, children and staff to explore the local area and to get active together.
The app runs in the background, so there is no need to worry about bringing out your phone. It will automatically collect tags in a 40-metre radius allowing you to concentrate on your walk, your family, and the wonderful surroundings.
Please join today!
Download Street Tag today from Google Play or the Apple App Store and start collecting points whenever you come within 40 metres of tags.
Here is a quick video that introduces the Street Tag initiative. Please note that this video does not have sound!

So from the 27th September until the 18th November, we are all working together as a school to climb up that leaderboard and maybe win some fantastic prizes!

Year 3 and 4 Hockey Tournament: 3rd October 2024

On Thursday, Mrs Stallard took an enthusiastic and excited team of Woodpeckers children to the Chantry for our annual Quicksticks hockey tournament. We played lots of matches, and after a hesitant beginning the children improved in skill and confidence. There were lots of goals scored and many skills from their PE lessons on display. The children represented their school absolutely brilliantly, showing teamwork, cooperation, a healthy sense of competition against the other schools and above all, support for their teammates.
A huge thank you to Mrs Hughes for organising our attendance at this fantastic tournament, and to the staff and young leaders at the Chantry for running such a friendly and inclusive event. The children made us all very proud, and we are all looking forward to our next sporting fixture!
Year 5/6 Football Tournament: Monday 14th October 2024
A team from Eagles class represented Clifton at the Chantry cluster Year 5/6 football tournament. We were all very excited to represent our school for the first time this year.
We were in a group with 4 other schools: Grimley, Martley, Broadwas and Hallow. Out first match was against Grimley. It was a tough game with many brilliant saves from Harry and some excellent shots on target. We ended up drawing the game 1-1 with a great goal from Aussie.
In our next games, our defence was brilliant as we did not concede a single goal and we drew each match. Harry again was fantastic in goal. In our final match, we pushed up front even more and were rewarded with a great win over Broadwas.
After all of our matches, we were told that we had come third in our group with 12 points. We were so happy with our performance and felt we played together brilliantly as a team!

Thank you to everyone from school who stayed to cheer us on and Mrs Hughes for taking us. Also, thank you to Mrs Coleman and the Young Leaders for organising the event. We can't wait until the next competition!

Eagles and Woodpeckers are introduced to the sport of Fencing: 29th November 2024
This week, Eagles and Woodpeckers have been learning the sport of Fencing. Coach John came into school and taught each class the basics of the sport, how to score, participate in some matches and learn how to umpire a match too. Fencing uses the brain as well as the body; it is a very strategic sport, almost like a physical form of chess. It teaches us to think for ourselves and to analyse the way other people think. Click on the picture below to watch a video that shows just what a brilliant sport it is:
The session was all about quick feet and getting used to all of the equipment. Here are some photos of our training session:

Girls Football Tournament: 3rd March 2025
A team Eagles class represented Clifton at the Chantry Cluster Girls’ Football tournament. There were lots of schools there and we were ready to show off our football skills.
in our first match, Chloe scored an early goal which really got the team going. Violet made some superb saves and we drew the game 1 - 1.
Our next match against Abberley was tough but we stayed determined and had many shots on goal. We narrowly lost the match 2 - 1.
In our third match, against Martley, we managed to score two fantastic goals thanks to the skills of Lucy and Abileen. We were so pleased to win as Martley are always very tough opponents.
Our final match was end to end great football. We didn’t stop the whole time and really worked hard to keep feeding our strikers long balls in order to get the ball closer to the goal. We were very proud of our performance even though we lost the match 3 - 2.
Overall, we had a great tournament and we feel very proud of how well we worked together as a team. Thank you to all of the Young Leaders who helped out and to Mrs Coleman who organised a brilliant tournament.
