Forest School 2018 - 2019
Robins Class enjoy their weekly Forest School sessions. This involves interaction with each other where communication is learnt and confidence is gained.
How much colour would you expect to find in your school grounds or garden? The palettes of colour have shown us we have more than we first thought.
When did you last go into the woods and imagine faces were staring back at you? Robins have created their faces that linked to traditional tales in our forest school area. Can you spot a wolf, gingerbread and a prickly hedgehog, just to mention a few characters hidden down there?
We are in our third and final section of What's under your feet? As you will see the children had great fun measuring worms, counting insects in general and most importantly getting dirt on their hands. This is a monitored activity where the results for each dig are sent up to the POD where scientists collate ours and other schools results from this digging adventure.
Preparing for a campfire in the rain did not deter the children at all. This preparation the previous week, enabled a fire to be lit straight away, whilst the children prepared willow sticks for the damper bread that they had made then cooked during the session. An extra treat was a marshmallow to slightly melt before returning to class.
We have many trees on the school site of all varying sizes. This exercise allowed the children using a string and the rule that , 2.5 cm accounts for 1 year of the trees age.
Spring is a good time to tidy away the old, ready for the new. Parachute games are great fun to finish an afternoon of bustle. The children are playing the 'Cat and Mouse' game.
