Sport @ Clifton: Summer Term 2018

KS2 Cross Country Championships: Thursday 21st June 2018

Lots of us in KS2 went to the Cross Country Championships at Chantry this week. We were split into 4 races: Year 3/4 Girls, Year 3/4 Boys, Year 5/6 Girls and Year 5/6 Boys. Year 3 and 4 had to run for 1KM and Year 5 and 6 had to run for 1.5KM.

It was a superb atmosphere as everyone was cheering everyone else on no matter what school they came from or what their position was in the race. It really did help us to keep going right to end!

We had some superb performances and we were all really proud of ourselves.Special congratulations to Jessie who came 5th in her race; Emily who came 5th in the Year 5/6 Girls race and Callum who was placed 8th in his race.

We enjoyed the event even though we were all a bit tired by the end! Thank you to Mrs Allen, Mrs Hughes and all the parents for cheering us on so loudly! Thank you also to all the staff and Young Leaders who organised the event.

Year 3 and 4 Tag Rugby Tournament: Monday 14th May 2018

A team from Year 3 and 4 participated in a Tag Rugby festival at Chantry. We were a bit nervous but excited too as it was our first Tag Rugby tournament. There were 6 other schools there and we hoped that we would do well. In the tournament we played all of the other 6 schools to decide who would be the overall winner.

There were lots of good' 'tagging' and some superb tries from Barney, William, Jess and Katelyn. All the way through, we worked together as a team, tried our best and supported each other whatever the score.

After we had played all of our matches, we were excited to find out who had won the trophy for this year. It was announced that Martley had won and we had come 6th. We were really proud of our performance and we enjoyed the whole tournament. Thank you to Mrs Hughes for organising the tournament; Mr Hughes who helped to referee; Mrs Quill, Mrs Throup and all the Young Leaders at Chantry who helped too.

KS2 Enjoy Gymnastics Festival: Thursday 26th April 2018

On Thursday 26th April, Woodpeckers and Year five children from Eagles class, went to The Chantry School to participate in a fantastic gymnastic event. We joined four other schools, and the activities involved balancing, travelling, jumping and rolling. When we got there, we headed to the dance studio to drop off anything we didn’t need. Next, we went into the sports hall to start our learning. Our first young leader, Mia, taught us how to travel effectively. After arriving at the second station, it was time to jump! Fifteen minutes later, we moved to the next station which focussed on balance.

The time flew by and soon the fun ended, but not before having to present a short sequence to the other schools at the event. Well done to Jessie, who was presented with a special trophy in recognition of her gymnastic skills.

We all had a lovely morning. We would like to thank all of the staff and Young Leaders who organised the event for us. We can't wait to go again next year!
