Football League Round 4 update - May 2016

Another set of football matches took place on Monday 23rd May at Chantry High School. It was the last round of the football league and all schools in the league played their final matches altogether. Clifton played Broadheath first. We went up 2-0 in the first few minutes and so spirits were high. Then in the second half, Broadheath came back and scored 2 goals. The final result was a 2-2 draw.

Our next match was against Grimley. We were determined to play even better in this match. Goals were scored by Evie, Henry and Lia. We ended up winning the match 3-0.

At the end of the evening were the presentations. Clifton ended up in 6th place in the league which was fantastic. Then Player of the Season and Top Goal Scorer was announced for each school.  Evie was awarded Top Goal Scorer and Nathan was Player of the Season! Well done to you both!

Football Match Report - Clifton v Bayton

Mr Ireland, who works in after school club, arranged 2 football matches against Bayton Primary School on Friday 20th May. Both teams were very excited as this was the first time that Clifton had played against Bayton.

The Year 5/6 team had a superb match, with both teams very evenly matched. The final score was 1-1, with Deakon scoring the goal for Clifton. For many of the players, it was the first time that they had represented Clifton in football and they felt very proud of themselves!

Year 3/4 had a brilliant match too. It was the first time that Year 3/4 had played a competitive football match this year and so nerves were high! However, they won the match 8-4! Top goal scorers were Callum and Jonah! What a result. Well done to you all!

Football League Round 3 update - May 2016

Year 5 and 6 have been busy representing Clifton in the Chantry Cluster Football League.

On the 19th May, we played Abberley and Martley. It was nice to have the football matches on the village playing fields so that the whole community could come out and watch!  In the first match against Abberley, we played really well. We won 4-0 with brilliant goals from Henry, Nathan and Henry. Nathan was nominated Man of the Match by Abberley. In our second match, we played Martley. It was a tough match which we drew 1-1. Patrick made so many amazing saves in goal that he was nominated Man of the Match! Well done to the whole team!

Gymnastics Spectacular - Friday 22nd April 2016

Year 4 and Year 5 had a great time at the Key Steps Gymnastics Festival on Friday. It was a packed afternoon of stretches, rolling, jumping and balancing. It was tough but enjoyable. At the end of the afternoon, they had the opportunity to watch some gymnasts showing off their skills.

I thought that balancing was an easy skill but when we were on the balance boards it was much harder. I had to look ahead and focus on a spot on the wall to help me!

I loved jumping over the Vault. I got really high but I still landed on my feet!

Thank you to all the Young Leaders and Mrs Simmonds for organising a great afternoon!
